The Friends are pleased to announce we are hosting Guided Tours of the Birmingham Catacombs a rare chance to explore hidden Birmingham and a unique way to start your daytime Halloween celebrations.
These catacombs were also used as Air Raid shelters during WWII.
Guided tours of the WARSTONE LANE Cemetery single underground tunnel.
This tour will start with the history of the former church St Michaels & All Angels, and the history of the tunnel that led from the church into the semi-circular catacombs, where the Birmingham printer John Baskerville was finally laid to rest. Discover the secrets that lie beneath the surface as our knowledgeable guide shares intriguing stories about the cemetery's history. Explore the dimly lit tunnel where whispers of the past still echo through the air.
During this unique experience, you'll have the opportunity to observe the intricate architecture and ornate semi-circular tiered catacombs, plus the tombstones that adorn the catacombs. Immerse yourself in the ambience of this intriguing underground tunnel.
