Constance Naden was an artist, philosopher, scientist and poet, very famous in her lifetime and considered to be one of the foremost female poets of the 19th century. Her legacy had been sadly forgotten until recently.
The Constance Naden Grave Appeal was supported by the Friends, who uncovered the original stone where it was buried and discovered that it was sadly in very poor condition. Funds were then raised to pay for a new ledger slab which was rededicated in May 2019.
This grave was buried underground and found by members of the Friends. An appeal was launched to purchase a completely new flat grave stone.
This is the new flat stone
funding by Constance's family, Dr Claire Stainthorp & the Friends of Key Hill cemetery & Warstone Lane cemetery.
